Dr Donald Loch leads the turf research team at the Queensland Department of Primary Industries &Fisheries’ Redlands Research Station near Brisbane. In the five years since its inception, the Redlands turf group has assembled a comprehensive in-ground collection of warm-season turfgrass varieties as basic material for research into water use and bioremediation, stress tolerance (salt, shade, temperature), diseases, nutrition and weed control, characterisation and improvement of sports surfaces, DNA fingerprinting, and breeding.
